Call for proposals to host DIS 2012

DIS 2012 will be held in continuation of the previous DIS conferences:

  • DIS 2010 in Aarhus (Denmark)
  • DIS 2008 in Cape Town (South Africa)
  • DIS 2006 State College (PA, USA)
  • DIS 2004 Cambridge (MA, USA)
  • DIS 2002 London (UK)
  • DIS 2000 New York City (NY, USA)
  • DIS 1997 Amsterdam (The Netherlands)
  • DIS 1995 Ann Arbor (MI, USA).

The DIS conference is an ACM SIGCHI conference and the proceedings are included in the ACM digital library.

To be able decide upon a venue for DIS 2012 we would like to invite you to prepare a proposal to host DIS 2012 addressing the following issues:

  1. Hosting organization.
  2. Committee plans: The general co-chairs and the program chairs should be specified.
  3. Venue: Describe the conference facilities as well as hotels, the city and potential social program.
  4. Budget (overall): Especially concerning expected number of participants and registration fees. You may also want to consider sponsor plans at this point in time.
  5. Scheduled dates for the conference.
  6. Profile of DIS 2012: Describe how the conference will focus on designing interactive systems, and address how the conference will continue as well as develop the profile of the DIS conference series.
  7. Other issues: Potential conference theme, considerations concerning submission categories, providing new interesting submission categories and activities, social program, consideration concerning attracting (new) participants to the conference, etc.

The next DIS conference will be selected based on the ability to continue as well as develop the profile of the DIS conference series, previous experiences in organizing similar events, the international recognition of key people in charge of the conference, and the attractiveness of the venue.

Proposals to host DIS 2012 should be sent to the DIS steering-committee at KimHalskov@acm.org no later than 20 November, 2010. Decision will be made by the DIS steering committee and notification will be made by 20 December 2010. First announcement of the event should made mid January 2011.
